Several pieces from A Flair for the Dramatic are present in several samplers. The two would later assist Vic Fuentes in writing the hit single King for a Day from the album Collide with the Sky. In the pieces Falling Asleep on a Stranger, The Balcony Scene and Diamonds and Why Men Buy Them, Curtis Peoples and Dave Yaden helped them write the songs. The music and lyrics were all composed and written by Vic and Mike Fuentes.

The duo entered the studio with producer Casey Bates in early 2007 and recorded the album within a few weeks.
